STATS 211 UBishops Infestation of A Certain Species of Lobster Barnacles Problem
Question Description
In a study of the infestation of a certain species of lobster by two types of barnacles, barnacle A and barnacle B, the carapace length of 30 randomly selected lobsters caught in the sea near Singapore are measured. A sample mean of 60.8 mm and standard deviation of 7.97 mm are found for lobsters infested with barnacle A. A mean of 64.2 mm is known from previous studies for lobsters infested by barnacle B. We wish to estimate the mean carapace length of the lobsters infested by barnacle A to see whether it is different than those infested by barnacle B, with 97% confidence.
