Step 2 Customer Profile Checklist
Brainstorming with your team, describe at least 2 different groups who share the defined problem: Companies within the U.S. that use substantial amounts of fresh water in their operations face a problem of having a consistent supply of fresh water that is safe to use.
Complete a Customer Profile Checklist for each group you define.
Step 3- Set Decision Objectives and Criteria
Using the reading material as resources for analysis, the team should review each customer profile. In order to make a decision about which profile represents the best opportunity, your team will create objectives and criteria for assessing each profile.
Note: you will NOT describe or use a product or solution for the problem.
You are assessing whether the customer profiles represent enough opportunity to pursue developing a solution. The reading material indicate factors that may be used as your objectives or criteria to conduct the evaluation.
Step 4- Build a Decision Matrix
Using the objectives and criteria developed in Step 3, build a Decision Matrix that enables the company to decide which customer profile represents the best opportunity to develop a marketing strategy for.
Step 5 Report Decisions
The team will compile your analysis in a summary paper that describes your decision-making process in defining and selecting a customer group to build a marketing strategy for. The paper will include:
- Completed Customer Profile Checklists for each of the markets you define (at least 2). Be sure the summary profile section of the checklist is complete but concise.
- Summary of the objectives and criteria used to evaluate different customer groups. This summary should list why objectives were chosen and their relationship to creating sustained value. Also explain how you chose criteria to measure how each customer group would meet the objectives. The summary should be no longer than one page.
- Completed Decision Matrix that shows the objectives and criteria applied to each customer group. (If you use an Excel spreadsheet for the matrix, insert it into the paper or add it as an appendix).
- Summary description of the process the team followed, why objectives and criteria contribute to creating value for the organization, and an explanation of the final decision related to customer group(s) to serve.
The team summary paper should include relevant references to assigned reading to support decision-making. The paper should be no longer than 5 pages, excluding the Customer Profile Checklists, that can be provided as an appendix or separate attachment. Compile and submit the team paper by Sunday. All members of the team will receive the same grade.
