PSY 3060 Ohio University Research Hypotheses & Null Hypotheses Discussion
Question Description
Project Milestone
Generate research hypotheses and null hypotheses.
Inferential statistics are by their very nature hypothesis tests. In fact, statistical results only tell us about our hypotheses. It is important that we learn to formulate testable hypotheses. For each research question, we must create both a null and a research hypothesis.
- Read Chapters 7 & 9 of your text.
- Watch the video about non-experimental research methods. Sampling Methods and Bias with Surveys: Crash Course #10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf-fIpB4D50&list=PL8dPuuaLjXtNM_Y-bUAhblSAdWRnmBUcr&index=12&t=0s
- Write a 2- to 3-page response that presents the research question you would like to explore for your final project and why it is important to you. Remember that this should be an original research study where you collect, analyze, and present quantitative data. This is not a review or summary of someone elses research.
- Include the null hypothesis and the research hypothesis. Remember that your research hypothesis is an educated guess that reflects what you think you will find when you explore your research question.
- Based on your null hypothesis, describe possible Type I and Type II errors.
- Include your prospective population and sample. Remember that the sample must adequately represent the selected population.
- Include validity and reliability concerns.
- Your facilitator must approve your hypothesis before you continue with your research.
This is the feed back I relieved from last week paper
Your explanation of standard deviation and variance was good. The main problem here is that you did not include a scholarly article as an example in your paper. Information from a website is not considered a scholarly peer-reviewed journal article.
