Unit Question
The question this unit has several parts. First, is racism still a significant issue for people of color (most notably African Americans) in the United States (why or why not), and there ample opportunities available for anyone, minorities included, to significantly improve their living conditions? Second, consider recent national and world events, do you believe calls to deport illegal immigrants and to keep certain groups out of the U.S. has made life more difficult for some who are actually U.S. citizens Americans? Third, despite the advances women have made in virtually every walk-of-life in the U.S., do you believe girls and women have the same opportunities to succeed in our society as boys and men (explain); and regardless of how you answer the question, what do you think the impact is on local communities?
