Reflective Paper Assignment

This paper is to be 3-4 pages in length, typewritten per APA format. Title page and reference page is to be included, but not part of the page count. Please reflect on an event that has occurred though out this semester during your clinical experience. You are to reflect on how you felt in that situation, what you have learned, and how this learning experience will change your behavior in similar situations in the future.

Describe the situation (remembering HIPAA guidelines), how you felt about it, and associate the experience with a concept that you learned in the classroom (from any course this fall). Explain how you will use that learning in the future as a registered nurse and how important the experience was for you.

Reflective Writing Tips

Reflection is thinking about a situation that happened and adding your response, this is includes positive and negative feelings. What was the outcome of the situation? How will it affect your future thinking? What will you do differently? Is there a procedure or policy that needs to be reviewed? Was there a change in attitude or belief after this event? Reflective thinking allows you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings.

Nursing Concepts

Compare the concept you have learned in any of your first semester classes with the situation you are writing about. Be sure to explain the concept you are writing about. Do not assume the reader knows what you are talking about. If you are talking about medical asepsis, be sure the audience understands the practice of medical asepsis. Be clear and accurate, and explain the concept like you would to a friend or family member.

This paper is graded. You must use at least two references and cite per APA format. You may use electronic resources as long as concept was discussed in class.
