An abstraction process moves from the concrete to either a concept or a construct. Concepts are scientifically based (factual) whereas constructs are socially based (valuable). The best way to create an abstraction ladder is by asking yourself or someone else “what is ______” with the blank being what the person said when previously asked “what is _____” until a concept or construct is reached.
