Grant Opportunity
The H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program is established to improve shortages in the healthcare workforce by creating long-lasting jobs and training courses in healthcare occupations including mental health and behavioral challenges in urban areas (Funding Details: H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program – Rural Health Information Hub, 2018). This grant program ensures that funding is available to keep opportunity zone benefits available in healthcare organizations. This program is a great implementation as it provides funding to partnerships of public and private sectors to increase hands-on training for better patient care (Funding Details: H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program – Rural Health Information Hub, 2018). This type of grant program is great in funding my healthcare program as it engages healthcare providers, and employers in training development, create and enhance skills in many healthcare sectors that emphasis on high-level patient healthcare occupations, provide support service for training and employment, implementation of infrastructure to maintain components of the program after the duration of the grant, and continuously look for investments partnerships to collect and review program information and look over results to make sure the program is running efficiently (Funding Details: H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program – Rural Health Information Hub, 2018).
Discuss common barriers or challenges to seeking funding for programs and ideas for overcoming these challenges and barriers.
Many challenges can arise when seeking funding for programs. In some cases, grant programs that are provided to increase training, education, and additional opportunities within urban communities lack access to partnerships and important foundations that affect their ability to network with a philanthropist who can help fund programs that are needed (Challenges Rural Organizations May Face in Seeking Philanthropy Support – RHIhub Toolkit, 2018). In addition, many grant programs have eligibility standards and guidelines which hinders some organizations from being eligible to receive a specific grant due to not meeting the requirements. Moreover, some philanthropists will not invest in programs that target a small number of individuals which forces programs to network with other urban communities with the same barriers and challenges to secure funding (Challenges Rural Organizations May Face in Seeking Philanthropy Support – RHIhub Toolkit, 2018). Breaking down barriers, in this case, can entail keeping multiple communication channels open so that there are easy and accessible ways of meeting and communicating with foundations and philanthropist who can donate money for a great cause and provide examples and evidence as to why working in smaller populations are just as beneficial as large groups as the assistance makes a major difference for those who are in need. Also, instead of implementing one standard eligibility application, several specific based applications for eligibility requirements should be accepted to give all organizations a chance to meet funding requirements to provide help where necessary.
