ME 526 University of New Hampshire Mechanic Materials Matlab & Solidworks Project
Question Description
You will find the description of the project below and attached a long with an excel file for the values needed.
ME 526 Project 1A (individual part)
Task 1: Use the tension data 2 tests X 3 materials = 6 data sets to evaluate stress, strain, modulus of elasticity, yield strength, ultimate strength, and breaking strength. Use excel or (preferably) Matlab to do that. Make 3 stress-strain diagrams (one for each material) by combining the data from the two tests for a given material. Compare the results from the two tests and discuss the accuracy of the test.
Task 2: For the torsion data, evaluate the average radius and the polar moment of inertia. Then compute the shear strain and the shear stress at the surface of the specimen (r=R). Please note that there are two data sets (precision twist measurements up to 5 degrees on a smaller specimen, and twist angles for a larger specimen starting at 45 degrees). Plot the shear stress versus the shear strain. Evaluate the modulus of Rigidity.
Task 3: Evaluate the Poisson ratio from the Poisson data sheet.
Task 4: Model a rectangular bar in SolidWorks and simulate loading it (e.g., in tension). Predict the stresses and deformations. Perform a SolidWorks simulations and compare the results of the simulation to your predictions.
Submit a pdf with all your work which should include:
-A bulleted list which summarizes your findings;
-All figures you generated, including simulation results from SolidWorks
-A print out of all your code (if you are using Matlab).
In addition to the pdf, please submit a zip file which includes all your files you generated for the project this includes code and/or excel work as well as SolidWorks files.
