Georgia Military College Live Musical Performance Discussion

Choose a musical work that has NOT been discussed before in this context, digital media or live performance are both acceptable. write and submit a short paper that follows the guidelines below.

1. Description: Describe what is seen in the artwork.

The name of the artist or group, when it was initially performed, and where/what it was performed.

2. Analysis: How were the elements and principles used? What are the relationships that exist with what is seen?

Students will analyze the performance, utilizing their understanding of the basic musical terms discussed within the course and formulate a cohesive and thoughtful critique of a musical work. Students’ critique should state how he/she like the performance and why.

3. Interpretation: What is the content, concept, or meaning of the artwork?

Students will create the statement that is strong, interesting, and dealing with the effectiveness of the work. For example, what’s the meaning of this compositions? Why did the composer write this music? What message/idea is the composer trying to convey through this music? etc.… This must obviously go beyond surface-level critique and must use elements gleaned from the course. This is where I asked students to use research components, and they are only allowed to use GMC database (Proquest/Academic Search Complete – Because these databases are easy to use for students)

4. Judgment /Evaluation: What is your evaluation of the artwork, based on steps 1, 2, &3?

The conclusion – to evaluate something, students look at the evidence presented and decide if it supports the conclusion. The conclusions must be presented in a logical, thoughtful manner based on evidence. Hope this help you to clarify the “Feldman Method”
