ASSIGNMENT: PROGRAM EVALUATION STRATEGY

Purpose:

The assignment represents the first part of the final paper.

It will set the stage for the evaluation study you are proposing by briefly presenting the problem and by briefly presenting literature on status of our effort to address the problem. PROBLEM-OPIOD ADDICTION IN THE NORTHEAST

Select a problem/issue in the context of the program that you will be addressing. Provide a 6-8-pages literature review on the current evidence (related to the program or program type). 5-10 references from the past five years

Note: This literature summary will be the foundation for the next paper. In the context of the literature, reflect on this agency-based program and what types of evaluation (process or outcome) strategy would you recommend and the rationale for this strategy.

1. Problem Statement
   • Define the problem
   • Who is most at-risk for experiencing the problem?
   • What do we know about the factors that continue to the development of the problem?
   • What do we know about the factors are associated with the continuation of the problem?
2. Literature Review
   • What are the current Intervention efforts to address the problem? If none, why not? What do we know about the effectiveness of those efforts?
   • What are the strengths and challenges associated with efforts to address the problem?
   • In what ways are those efforts reflective a larger understanding of the ecology of the problem?
3. Next Steps
   • What type of evaluation questions needs to be addressed? Process or Outcome?
4. References
   • Five to 10 refences from peer review journal. The majority of those references published within the last five years.
