De Anza College Writing Better Titles Paper

After you’ve viewed our class lesson this week, I would like you to revisit your titles for papers 1-3.

Go through each paper and evaluate your title for your essay and respond to the following:

1. Paper #1: Do you have a title and was it good because it was original, creative, informative, and persuasive? If not, write a new title!

2. Paper #2: Do you have a title and was it good because it was original, creative, informative, and persuasive? If not, write a new title!

3. Paper #3: Do you have a title and was it good because it was original, creative, informative, and persuasive? If not, write a new title! (You may have to ask me what your title was for this paper if you can’t remember or access it.)

After viewing our class lesson about writing good titles for your papers, I would like to give you an extra credit opportunity:

Come up with a title for my Jaws movie poster analysis (shared in my class video). (Keep in mind that I am not talking about the movie itself but am analyzing its poster.)

• Share your awesome title here, which MUST (for you to earn an extra credit point)

  • Tell your reader what the paper is about (an analysis of the Jaws poster)

  • Hint at your stance on the poster (that it is well done) through persuasive language such as adjectives

  • Be fun, unique, and creative to pull your reader in

• Comment on your favorite title that a classmate came up with. The winner of your votes will earn an additional extra credit point!
