CUNY BMCC Personal Code of Ethics in Organizations and Institutions Essay

Question Description

2 page double spaced paper answering the following question highlighted in yellow. You may any format you would like (for example 5 paragraph essay), but just make sure that the paper is coherent and organized and that each paragraph stays focused on 1 or 2 subjects. Make sure you have a clear topic statement in the first paragraph. Make sure to use at least 2 concepts, theories, models and or vocabulary from Chapter 9. You may write this in the 1st Person (Using personal pronouns, like “I” or “my”).

A code of ethics is essentially a comprehensive system of right and wrong. It is a set of guidelines to help you make decisions based on your own conscience.

You can start by looking at existing codes. A few places to look for ideas include political ideologies, religious codes, and analytical philosophy. Ask yourself which specific ideas make sense to you and which do not. For example: Do you agree that war can be justified? Do you believe that it is important to help others, even if it is not convenient? How should humans treat other animals? Ask yourself as many questions as you can think of, and try not to let popular opinions influence you. What do YOU really think? Use existing codes to develop your own code.

You can also write about how your personal experiences (family, friends, faith, work) have impacted your ethics and the development of your ethics. You can give examples of your ethics and how they have led you to make certain choices in your personal and/or professional life. You can explore areas where you have not clarified your own beliefs and ethics.

Remember: This is a rough draft and as before you will not be graded on it. BUT, if you do a great job on it the 1st time (23+ out of 25 points) you will not have to re-do it at all for the final draft.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL CODE OF ETHICS?
