Wake Technical Community College Social Learning Theory Complex Human Behavior Essay

Write a paper on: How you would improve the theory (research) in an effort to address the point it does not address.

We had to write a pre-paper for this assignment and this is what I wrote and what the paper should be about.

“The theory I will be discussing is social learning theory, developed by Albert Bandura. The theory is the belief that people engage in behaviors based on the social environment around them and people they may be influenced by. This topic piqued my interest due to the fact that I believe environments do have an impact on criminal behavior. Two points the theory uses to explain criminal behavior are reinforced beliefs and criminal models. However, one point the theory does not address involving criminal behavior is how observation and personal experience affects criminal behavior. In an effort to improve the theory based on the problems it has, I would add information on how both observations and personal experiences with the social learning theory can influence criminal behavior. Whether the person is being led by someone who may be a criminal, or just watching a television show where crime occurs, the behavior is still being learned. Two sources I will be using for my research are two books found online about social learning theory, and they are listed below.”
