USC Ride Along Videos Policing Video Project Presentation
Question Description
Since students will not be able to conduct their police ride-along, the class project will be modified so that students can complete an online research project.
For the class project, students will watch a minimum of five (5) episodes of LIVE PD Richland County Sheriffs Department. Students are asked to watch each episode from the perspective that you are actually riding with the Deputy in each scene. This will take some imagination, but I know you can all do it. A good set of YouTube videos on LIVE PD can be found at this link:

Project Requirements
1. Students will conduct video research as indicated above
2. Students will put together a well-organized and factually accurate Powerpoint Presentation on their video review
3. The Powerpoint will contain a minimum of 9 slides to include:
a. Slide 1 (Title slide with Title of Project, student’s name, course number, section number,
Professor’s name, Date)
b. Slide 2 (Summary of Episode 1 from your perspective; how did you feel when watching it?
What three questions would you ask the Deputy? Why did you pick these questions?)
c. Slide 3 (Summary of Episode 2 from your perspective; how did you feel when watching it?
What three questions would you ask the Deputy? Why did you pick these questions?)
d. Slide 4 (Summary of Episode 3 from your perspective; how did you feel when watching it?
What three questions would you ask the Deputy? Why did you pick these questions?)
e. Slide 5 (Summary of Episode 4 from your perspective; how did you feel when watching it?
What three questions would you ask the Deputy? Why did you pick these questions?)
g. Slide 6 (Summary of Episode 5 from your perspective; how did you feel when watching it?
What three questions would you ask the Deputy? Why did you pick these questions?)
h. Slide 7 (Pick any ONE of the episodes and answer the following questions: What
important or interesting information did learn about policing and/or the field of
criminal justice that surprised you?)
i. Slide 8 (Pick any ONE of the episodes and answer the following questions: How was the
field of policing different from your previous expectations?)
j. Slide 9 (What was your overall opinion of this alternative ride-along experience? Do you
think this exercise was beneficial to you as a student? Why or why not?
