Entry 2 Prompts: Experiences of Racism (respond to one set of prompts)

300-500 words

1) Describe and comment on an instance in which you experienced or observed a racist event. What was your reaction? How did it make you feel? How would you want to react differently to the situation? How would your perspective change if you were a person of a different race?

2) Describe and comment on a racial experience in which your intention was interpreted differently by another person of a different race, e.g. you said or did something that offended the other person. What did you say or do? How was it interpreted? What would you do differently in the future?

3) Describe and comment on an instance in which you were being publicly intimate with a person of a different race (e.g. interracial dating, taking care of a child, or helping an older or disabled person). How did others react to you and how did you deal with this situation? How do you think the situation would be different if you were a different race or gender?
