Assignment guidelines:

In Chapter 19, you learned about “Applying and Interviewing for Employment”. On page 574 of this chapter, it identifies six different letters that are written in the business world. Following up after an interview shows you really want the job and are motivated to get the job. By writing this email, you also demonstrate you communication skills ( professional writing skills). ” Following up brings your name to the interviewer’s attention once again and reminds him or her that you are actively looking and waiting for the decision.” (pg.574)

For this assignment, you are required to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the following letter in pairs with a classmate and submit your analysis in a 200 words two paragraph document.

(Paragraph one Strengths, Paragraph two weaknesses)

Remember that:

1- As a pair your will submit one writing

2- Only two paragraphs are needed – one for the strengths (100 words),and one for weaknesses (100 words).

3-Paragraphs must have unity and flow.

4-You must proofread multiple times for grammar.

5-One person will submit the assignment.

6- The grade you receive will be for both of you.

Thank you for the really marvelous opportunity to meet you and your colleagues at Starret Engine Company. I really enjoyed touring your facility and talking with all you guys and gals! You have such and AWSOME crew!! Some of the other companies I have visited have been so rigid and uptight that I can not imagine how I would fit in. It is a relief to run into a group of professionals who have a passion for their work as much as you all do .

I know that you must be looking at many other candidates for this position, and I know that some of them will probably be more experienced than I am. But I do want to emphasize that my two-year hitch in the Navy involved a good deal of engineering work. Did I tell you about all my shipboard responsibilities during the interview, or did I forget? I can’t remember.
