Temple University Health Benefits and Drawbacks of Esports Case Study

Students will research and submit a write up (approximately 1000 words – no longer than two pages double spaced) on a current event related to an interesting issue facing an esports publisher, team, player, title, fan(s) – or any topic the student finds personally interesting. This is a time to fill in your classmates on interesting and important things going on in esports – including the good and the bad. This is not a group project and is meant to be completed as an individual. These current events must be taken from reputable news sources or academic research. Students will submit a write up as well as a link to the current event article via Canvas before the start of the Week 6 Zoom session. To earn the full points for the assignment, on Canvas, a student must:

• Provide the exact title of the article.
• Provide a link to the article.
• Provide a summary of the article in approximately 4-6 sentences.
• Provide a reaction to the article where you take a position on the topic within the article. This section should be 3-4 paragraphs.
• The write up should be no longer than 1000 words.

The current events discussion portion of this assignment is informal and will not be graded. The written submission should be submitted as a Microsoft Word document. It should be 2 pages in length and submitted on Canvas. In addition, please be prepared to have your completed current events available during our Zoom session for discussion – during Weeks 6 and 7 several students will be chosen to briefly discuss their current event during our Zoom session. If there are no student volunteers, I will select students at random for the discussion.
