SUNY Old Westbury Conducting Structured Interviews Questions Discussion
Question Description
Write a strong paragraph for each answer. Pay particular attention to your introductory and concluding sentences.
- Your major project for the semester will be an interview of an African descent individual about her/his/their family. You’ll interview someone from outside of your own family Part of the assignment involves you as a class generating most of the interview questions. I’ll review them with you and add some. What are some questions you’d consider asking based on what you’ve learned so far? Perhaps you’ll consider questions about the family’s history.
- You also need to learn about conducting structured interviews. Find a resource on this topic and write about it. You’ll share it with your peers later. After you’ve read/watched the resource, what questions are left unanswered? How can you go about answering them?
- What “jumped off the page” for you in the Coates article on reparations? Select a quote, write it in your answer with the page number, and discuss what struck you about that sentence. This “noteworthy quotation” can be something that you found shocking, intriquing, interesting, enraging . . . or it might have evoked a different reaction.
