San Jose State University FDP Student Internship Thank You Follow up Letter
Question Description
Thank-you/Follow-up Message Prompt
A follow-up message after an interview is more than a professional courtesy; it’s another chance to promote yourself to an employer. (p.385)
In three brief paragraphs, acknowledge the interviewers time and consideration, express your continued interest in the position, explain a crucial point that you have reconsidered, and ask for a decision.
Note: Remember that this Follow-up message is in response to the job posting you have found and been working on the past few weeks. Assume that you were called in for an interview and are now sending a thank you/follow-up message.
This is a message sent after you’ve met the interviewer, so you should know the name. If you don’t have a name for the person, make one up.
If you use an email format instead of a business letter hard copy format, remember to include a subject line at the beginning!
(Refer to the sample letter in the book on p. 386, but don’t copy it — Plagiarism)
