I choose to become a member of the Walden community because I wanted to be part of the change and enhance the lives of others in the community, and further my career. The moment when I decided to continue my education was when I understood the need to acquire knowledge that will make me a productive person in the community. I took this step after hearing a testimony from a family friend on the benefits of taking such an action.

As a Walden student, I am a person who works hard in order to change my future and that of others through the established programs in this organization. And I plan to be a human in this online world by establishing a good relationship with others and helping others overcome their challenges. Also, I endeavor to show others the way to success.

I feel ready to embark on this journey because I have all it takes to be successful. However, I am afraid of the challenges and uncertainties that might come my way.

The available tools and support will be beneficial in providing insight and help towards the achievement of the goals. I will leverage these tools and take advantage of the available resources to achieve my goals.

I am managing the business of being a student by being disciplined and focused on the achievement of my career goals.

The questions that I have about my enrollment, my program, my planned course of study include the challenges they are likely to pose to my personal life. Am I prepared for the enrolment, my schedule, and the course of study? What resources do I need to go through them successfully?

I will protect my learning process by dedicating more time to the studies and ensuring that the time for study is well utilized.

The time management decided that I have made writing schedules for completing various tasks. I have also identified some friends and mentors as a support network to help me through.

I might identify a mentor by associating with other individuals and establishing some connections with experienced individuals within the school fraternity.

The technical challenges include a lack of enough time and enough materials that could be required in the achievement of the goals in this organization.

I might become a mentor to others by being a good example and showing them away.

The first resource that will be useful is the library and all its resources. This is important because it provides all the required reading and learning materials. The other resources are the instructors who are readily available to help the learners succeed. These are the most critical resources in this organization, and if they are well utilized, they can help one succeed in a program.

Briefly describe your chosen object including any references to sources you used.

Write 150-250 words describing how your significant object connects with your life and your desire for further education. How has it inspired you and how has it made your life or the lives of others better? How does it communicate your life perspective?

Section 3: Conclusion

What key idea do you want the reader to remember most? Avoid repeating information. This should be the synthesis of your paper. The paragraph should be your affirmation, what inspires you. Think big. Be bold. The only people reading this is you and your instructor.

This was the object I used for my paper

“The Vulture and Child”

For this assignment, I chose ‘The Vulture and Child,’ which portrays a photograph of a weak, malnourished child crouching in the dirt and dust while a vulture is standing by gazing at the child. According to Richards (2020), the photo was taken by a famous photographer named Kevin Carter and was published in the New York Times in March 1993. The photo was then reproduced by other newspapers around the world, which made the photo famous. According to the author, the photo was popular to the extent it became the ‘icon of Africa’s anguish.’ Richards highlights that southern Sudan was facing famine and war during this time, which was often overlooked by the public. However, after the publication of the photo and the subsequent publication by other newspapers, some of the attention was directed to South Sudan. International bodies started to debate what the best action be to help the country.

This photo plays a crucial role in how I view life. Having being raised in a family that has struggled to be where I can easily relate to the photo. While I may not know the true suffering the child has endured, I do understand that life is not always fair. The photo inspires me to look at wealth, life, food as a privilege in this life. For this reason, whenever I have a chance to help out in a charity event or help the needy, I don’t hesitate. Being from a religious family, I’ve been raised with a passion for helping others in need. I also believe that we did not choose the life we find ourselves in. the child in the picture did not choose to be born in South Sudan. Therefore, we have to help out whenever we can in this life, to make the life of another better.

Some of my classmate’s choices are almost similar to mine, in that the objects make them be better persons and give them a different perspective of life. Additionally, some of their objects make them appreciate life and not take life for granted, which is almost similar to what my object depicts. I think my significant object highlights my personality as a caring person and one who sees life as a privilege. The significant object tells a story about how I was raised and the values my parents have instilled in me. It also tells of how my family was not well-off when I was a child and that I have had my fair share of suffering. Also, one can see that I am grateful for everything, especially when it comes to living a life that you do not have to beg or depend on others’ mercy to get good or shelter.

I think that technology has had both positive and negative impacts on our lives. For instance, through technology, most humans can create significant objects through cameras by taking photographs. By capturing a significant or emotional moment or capturing a strange object, one can easily create a significant object. After taking a photo, one can print or publish the image to make it an object that can be viewed and even touched. In terms of sharing, technology has made the sharing of a significant object much easier. For instance, a significant photo can be shared through the internet for everyone to view. People can also download a photo and print it without even meeting the creator or developer.
