Make sure the information is accurate, complete and in your own words, relate the medication to the disease process and how it improves the disease process. You have to do each of these medications
Drug name, classification, mechanism of action (write in your own word) do not copy and paste from the drug book. Look at the drug book, it will tell you the mechanism of action and then restate in a way that makes sense to you in your own words.
Put common side effects
Don’t put every single side effects from the drug book, write the common ones probably 3 or 4 and must be ones that are most important to teach the client about like what might they see that they should know is either normal like if you experience bradycardia you need to call your provider. Prioritize the side effects. Do not just list all you have from the drug book.
For nursing implication and client teaching
Like digoxin for example, we don’t give that when the heart rate is less than 60 so that will be important for you as the nurse to know you know you need to assess vital signs b4 giving that medication and if heart rate is 55 you are not going to give it and likewise that will be important client teaching; like, if you are going home with this medication I need to know that you know how to check your pulse, you understand when to take this med and when not to take it.
Instructor do not want too many things here, so she wants us to pick the top one or two most important nursing implications and client teaching. She wants to see that we can prioritize and not just list everything from the drug book.
At least one reference probably our drug book or pharmacology book and in APA format, she said we should use the table.
