three SEPARATE response papers in which you respond to these readings. These papers should each be double-spaced, and 2-3 pages. For each paper, there will be one or two specific questions to answer in your responses and then a section for free-form response.

Following are the response questions for the respective Nagami book readings.

Introduction
Dr. Nagami describes some ways in which her work affects her family & their lives. Under similar circumstances, do you think you would react much the way she describes in this introduction? Why or why not? How do you think you would react if your job was to come into contact with such infectious illnesses?

Chapter 1 – Worm Hunt
What is a Gnathostoma? What are the means by which people can become infected with Gnathostoma? What other infectious organisms can cause similar symptoms? What is the treatment for infectious with Gnathostoma? What is the distribution for most infections with Gnathostoma?

Chapter 2 – Wounded Hearts
Before reading this chapter, did you know the valves of the heart could get infected? Search on the internet and find out how many people a year get infective endocarditis in the United States. This chapter also discusses Dr. Nagami’s inspiration for her work. How did you react to this discussion? Explain.
