Identify the sources and issues of public policy financing.

A vital part of human service professionals’ practice is to understand how programs are financed. It is important to know not only how policies are funded, but also how funding may create a dynamic environment in which the work of the human services professional could be impeded. Once services are provided, a professional may need to defend that program in the future to ensure continued funding.

• Read Chapter 7 from your text.
• Answer the following questions within your discussion:
  • Explore at least three ways the programs devised by public policy are funded.
  • The book presents three evaluation criteria specific to financing. Identify and discuss these three criteria. Propose a hypothetical or find a real example of a program failing in one or more of these areas in terms of effective financing.
