Question Description
Aim:
To test the students ability in the understanding of the concepts of pneumatics, electro-pneumatics and transducers.
Learning Outcomes:
Objectives of this Assignments are:
Design pneumatic circuit diagrams using BSI Fluid Power symbols for the controlled reciprocation of single and double acting cylinders
Design electro-pneumatic circuit diagrams for industrial applications using various electro-pneumatic components
Describe the operation of transducers for sensing displacement, strain, temperature, pressure, flow and acceleration
Tasks Expected:
The objective of this coursework is to understand the concept of pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, and transducers. Students are required to select an industrial/ domestic application as per the questions which may be manufacturing-based or service-oriented or process-oriented or day to day products/processes and collect information related to that. Students can choose an Industrial application by referring to websites, books, blogs and other online resources. Paraphrasing is very important when students are going to collect information from online or other resources and must be given reference. Also there is some weightage for the active participation in online session which may be assessed during the online class session.
1. Identify any electro pneumatic industrial application with the following componets (i,ii,iii)
and Explain about the application details, draw electro pneumatic diagram and Electrical connection circuit
i. Two double-acting cylinder;
ii. Latching and breaking circuit;
iii. Minimum Two limitswitches
( If there is any similarity between students in the explanation of Industrial application or in the circuit diagram, palgirism policy will be applicable)
2. Identify any one of the manufacturing application of Pneumatic circuit Design and Explain about the application details, draw pneumatic diagram and Displacement diagram
( If there is any similarity between students in the explanation of Industrial application or in the circuit diagram, palgirism policy will be applicable)
3. Identify an application of Flow sensor in a petroleum Industry and explain the working of the selected application with neat sketch.
4. Identify an application of Thermocouple in a manufacturing Industry and explain the working of the selected application with neat sketch and give three advantages.
5. Active participation in online sessions (quiz/online test etc)
NOTE:
(All of the above are open ended Questions. You are required to select various Industrial applications after referring study materials, online learning, book reading etc.
