For Journals, be sure to include the following as grading criteria:

• Include the title and author(s) of the article (you can do this as part of the topic sentence or simply list it at the top of the submission)
• A clear paragraph that opens with a topic sentence that identifies and explains the article’s main idea and thesis
• Evaluation of the source including but not limited to its content, credibility, organization, argument, bias, etc…
• At least one key quotation (in quotation marks) that is also explained in your own words (and is part of the paragraph, not kept separate from it)
• Be at least 6-8 strong sentences (and written in paragraph format) but no more than one and a half pages in length (this is just a journal, not a full essay)
• Include some kind of external connection, whether as a personal experience, connection to a current event, or some other form of response beyond the article itself

Upload the journal as either a Word Document or a PDF. Failure to meet the criteria for grading will result in lost points.
