The way that I would do the training would be having a moderator from the company to introduce each section of the new system and seat everyone in groups. Once they demonstrate how to do something, they will then be given an example of something to do and they will demonstrate how they would do it. This type of training is really beneficial because not only does each person learn how to do it, but they can get help from their peers and practice it on their own.

For starters, some training problems in this situation are the exclusion of learning styles and information overload. As a manager in business it is necessary when teaching anything, to be inclusive of all learning styles. All learning styles must be accounted for: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic. This makes it so every person is able to learn in the ways that are best for them. It is also a good tool to makes sure that teachings do not get boring or repetitive. Also, no one should ever have to read a full manual; its an overload of information. They should learn the most important tools and use the manual as a guide when having specific situation at hand.
I think that the training should be mandated for the entire staff. New technology, especially in a hospital, is essential for efficiency and growth. After the meetings, having a test on their knowledge would help encourage the staff to pay attention. Having regular tests would also be useful. An important note is the tests are not to reward or punish; they would happen to help the managers be aware if there are any problems that a person might need a refresher on.

The first issue I noticed was that attendance was not mandatory. Even in the workplace, encouraged attendance is not enough to make people go. Making it mandatory would not only bring up attendance, but also show how important learning the new software is. Employees already feel that no one cares if they learn it properly, so making it mandatory would show otherwise. I also think having upper level management attend would also show importance. Testing employees would be beneficial as well. This would encourage them to learn so they don’t fail the test and have to retake the lectures. Distributing the manual to everyone instead of just those who attended the meeting is another way to show the software to everyone. They are setting themselves up for failure by not giving everyone the opportunity to learn the material. The last thing I would encourage is discussing with employees how they would learn best. While some may learn best from lectures, some may learn best from hands-on training. Having a mix could encourage employees to learn and help them retain better.
