In a three page assessment, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate sUAS safety integration strategies for an sUAS flight operation consisting of the following:

  • 3 individuals (two possess an RPC and the other is a computer and software expert who functions as your engineer)
  • 5 systems (4 spare batteries per aircraft)
    • 2 ea. DJI Inspires with Zenmuse X5 and XT cameras (you choose which model)

  • Electronics
    • Each system comes with an AndroidTM or iOS tablet

    • 3 ea. laptops
    • 2 ea. handheld GPS
    • 3 ea. WiFi network data devices/tether-able/4G LTE
  • Transportation (each vehicle can secure all systems during off-road conditions)
    • 1 ea. 3/4T, 4X4, 4-door diesel-powered pickup truck w/bed topper
    • 1 ea. AWD 5-door SUV

Scenario: You own a company that performs sUAS contract work. You were recently awarded two contracts: one for the McIlhenny Company on Avery Island (NDVI data collection on pepper fields) and the other for the Port of Texas City (3D point clouds/ 2D Ortho’s/ Volumetrics) along the docksides (west and north of canals) south of Dike Rd. down and around Barge Canal and to the end of Industrial Canal oriented north. The contracts are back-to-back and scheduled for five days each with a one day overlap. Tabasco comes first.

Conduct a safety integration analysis on the scenario above whereby you are to consider safety systems, emergencies, and aeronautical decision-making.
