Bowie State University Coronavirus Global Pandemic Discussion

Since the global pandemic started everything has been totally different. There is a coin shortage everywhere, in almost every store you walk in there’s a sign that asks for exact change because of the shortage. I think that the economy has depleted tremendously also with lots of people applying for unemployment and that is backed up as well. I personally know people that are affected by this and still waiting for their income to come in. I believe that’s why governors are rushing to open states again because their concern is circulating money again so that there would be no recession. Everything going on with this pandemic could last longer than a year or two because people are not following the social distancing guidelines or wearing a mask but also since the economy is heading towards being shambles right now they’d rather put people’s lives in danger. Honestly, I can’t tell what the future will hold because there is a new problem that arises every day pertaining to the pandemic. I want to stay optimistic and say that things will get better but for now this is our new normal.

I believe that as the economy continues to open up, that the economy will get better as more jobs are being continually added. I believe that as we go back to normal, there will be an expansion. To avoid curtailing this, I believe the country needs to stay open, and there should not be another shut down. When we shut down the country, people are out of work. When people are out of work, they don’t have the ability to pay their mortgage, loans, bills, food bills, medical bills, etc. When this happens, people default on payments, many services can be shut off (unless the government has mandated otherwise), people don’t eat, etc. We have already seen these things take effect, and it has unfortunately devastated many Americans. And when businesses cannot be paid, they eventually will go out of business. So one of the most important factors is having jobs available to keep the U.S. economy going. If you don’t work, you don’t eat!

I’m not completely sure how many states are still closed or under strict limitations, but the best thing local, state, and federal governments can do is open up and stay open.

However, if we continue on this path for another year or two, the U.S. economy as we know it would go straight into the ground.

I believe if we stay open and go back to normal, the U.S. will continue to remain the global superpower and the greatest country in the world!
