Text Chapter Discussion Questions

Each team will be required to submit one question for each chapter (as nominated in the Schedule). This question can be one of concept clarification, application, real world application or other BUT should represent an issue relevant only to the assigned chapter. It is also the responsibility of the team member submitting the discussion question that it is submitted to the correct Discussion Board location. Your instructor is not responsible for misallocations. And misallocations will attract a zero grade. Beware also that if a team member is making a comment that if he/she makes a comment in relation to a question that is not relevant to the chapter that the comment will also attract a zero grade.

For the chapter discussion questions, I require that each team’s leadership change for each chapter for this assignment, that is, that the question submission should be prepared and submitted by a different person (in rotation) from each team (although the whole team should discuss what the question should be) for each chapter. Of course, it should be clear at all times who the person submitting the question is and which team they represent (see Written Submissions Protocol).

Further, I will require that a different member of the team respond another team’s discussion question on the Discussion Board and clarify/comment/answer the discussion question/s put forward. Again, this should be done in rotation. Again, it is the responsibility of the team member submitting the discussion question that it is submitted for the correct Discussion Board chapter.

Each of the question submitted and the commentary of another team’s question will be graded separately out of 5 points; so a total of 10 team points for each Chapter. Since teams are generally made up of four individuals then there generally should be six contributions to me made for any one individual. If there is a team of three individuals, then the top five contribution grades will be counted. If there is a team of five individuals (and the rotation requirement is followed) then contributions will be prorated up for all individuals).

So, to be clear, each week one person from the team will submit a discussion question and another person will submit a commentary/clarification/answer to another team’s discussion question. Note that a commentary/clarification/answer should not be to one’s own team’s discussion question. If a team member proposes the discussion question and another person from that team provides a commentary

to that question, the commentary will be disregarded. If a team member makes two commentaries for any one chapter posting, then the second (in order of appearance) will be disregarded.

§ ask one question (not several)

§ use ideas and examples from the week’s viewing/reading, and

§ include your original thoughts only (so no copying from other works)
