Ashford University How Can a Corporation Have a Social Responsibility Discussion

Question Description

How can a corporation have a social responsibility?

The word “social” may really jump out at you when you see the phrase “social responsibility.” How are we understanding social and responsibility? Isn’t the term social relative? Isn’t responsibility supposed to be a subjective activity or endeavor, not tied to any financial obligation or role?

During our last lecture, your conception of social responsibility was challenged. You thought through many questions and came to understand social responsibility in a new and very specific way that will be the basis of your practice of financial management and corporate leadership going forward.

This reflection is very powerful and important as you prepare to practice financial management and leadership. You need to be able to articulate your values and strategic goals, for yourself and for the shareholders you hope to serve.

In your role as a financial manager, what recommendations can you provide to maximize your company’s profit that also successfully support the community in which it operates?
